Giinagay - Hello

Unkya Local Aboriginal Land Council offers two (2) spectacular Cultural Tours Experiences.

Unkya Cultural Tours has been operating since 2012, at Scotts Head on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.

Scotts Head is a 5 hour drive from Sydney and a 6.5 hour drive from Brisbane. Unkya Local Aboriginal Land Council Cultural Tours are 100% Aboriginal Owned and Operated and Authentic.

The Gumbaynggirr people are Saltwater people.

The Gaagal Yuludarla (Ocean Dreaming) and Gaagal Wanggaan (South Beach) National Park Tours were created by Michele Donovan and Anna Lisa Wilson Gumbaynggirr women who are descendants of the Southern Gumbaynggirr people of the Nambucca Valley and their friend Kerry Grace.

Their idea is to share their strong cultural connection to Gaagal Wanggaan (South Beach) National Park where they grew up.

Gaagal Wanggaan Tour is a 2.5 hour walk through the most incredible serene, pristine bush and beach.

Gaagal Yuludarla (Ocean Dreaming) Tour is a 1.5 hour easy walk on the beautiful Scotts Head Little Beach – (locals name for this beach) and up and around the beautiful headland with idyllic views of Little Beach and Gaagal Wanggaan (South Beach) National Park.

Our customers will take a journey back in time and walk on the traditional lands of our great Gumbaynggirr Creation Ancestors, learn about the importance of practicing the Ecological balance through our Gumbaynggirr Traditional Ecological Knowledge, experience our Gumbaynggirr traditional smoking and cleansing ceremony.

Our customers will experience an important Gumbaynggirr Cultural practice which has been handed down through the generations of the Ocean Ceremony.

The Gumbaynggirr people have long welcomed the Gurruja’s (Whales) through our homelands from June through to November each year the majestic creatures migrate up to warmer waters and make the journey back to the Antarctic.

Our tours are designed so that we get to share our beautiful, vibrant cultural connection to our traditional Lands and Waters with everyone.

Our Tours are fully guided by our experienced Tour Guides, who are Traditional Owners and Native Title Holders.

So if you would like to book with Unkya Local Aboriginal Land Council Cultural Tours and take a journey and discover our amazing Gumbaynggirr people’s deep connection to our Aboriginal Owned National Park Gaagal Wanggaan (South Beach) National Park and stroll along Little Beach at Scott’s Head and experience those idyllic views with our Experienced Tour Guides then please book now, we would love to meet you all.
