Karen works from her Mount Rankin studio/gallery.

From 1983 she was trained in oils under the guidance of one tutor, Australian artist Marjorie Prophet. As Karen’s love of art grew & became a life passion, she was encouraged to spread her wings & attend other artist classes, the most influential being the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney. She worked during this time as a graphic artist at a large printing company for 16 years, leaving in 1997 to prepare for her first exhibition. Shortly after this Karen & husband Bob travelled throughout the U.K. & Europe then spent time in Kenya volunteer teaching.

In 2000 they moved to live in the South Island of NZ to the seaside town of Kaikoura, where they ran an art gallery & tourist accommodation. In 2002 Karen began teaching art to adults & students in her studio which grew into a thriving art school.

In 2018 they moved back across the ditch to settle in the Bathurst area of NSW. Karen’s subject matter is varied as she tends to paint what appeals to her whether it be seascape, landscape, still life, animals or people. She works and teaches in oils, pastels, acrylics & charcoal drawing.

Paintings and a range of cards are available to purchase.
