  • Welcome to Country ceremony
  • Introduction to Yolngu culture (stories, traditional dance, introduction to Yolngu language and kinship system)
  • Access to visit Lonely beach
  • Three days of cultural activities (subject to weather conditions and seasonal variation). Activities may include:
    • fishing
    • weaving
    • exploring the bush and learning about bush medicines and or bush foods
    • there may also be some ceremonies if/when suitable such as a smoking ceremony, or healing ceremony.
  • Storytelling in the evening with your hosts around the campfire
  • Beach front cabin accommodation for 2 nights

  • Sun protection – sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc.
  • Sneakers/walking shoes.
  • Insect repellent.
  • Drinking water – water is available in the community, however, ensure you have enough for the duration of your trip.
  • Food to be self-sufficient:
    • 2 x breakfast
    • 3 x lunch
    • 2 x dinner
    • snacks
  • If you intend to swim, bring bathers/something to swim in. Women are recommended to pack swimwear that covers their shoulders and their knees to be respectful of Yolŋu customs. Swimming is undertaken at your own risk.
  • Satellite phone is recommended. A public phone is available at Bawaka. No mobile coverage is patchy and unreliable Bawaka Homeland.
  • If bringing a child under 4, please bring along appropriate bedding.

You must supply your own rapid antigen test to meet our COVID-19 safety policy. Rapid antigen tests are available for purchase in Nhulunbuy at Woolworths and Amcal.

All visitors to the homeland must be double vaccinated, allowances will be made for children under 12 and people with medical exemptions.

All tour participants are required to undertake a rapid antigen test on the day of the tour and prior to departure. Photographic evidence of the negative test result along with the packaging serial number must be provided to your hosts upon arrival. Allowances will be made for children under 12 and people with medical exemptions.
