Montezuma Falls

Access From: Montezuma Falls Carpark Distance: 5km Ride Time: 40 mins Difficulty: Trail description

Hand-carved out of the forest in the late nineteenth century, this is a great introductory trail for beginners and families. It follows the old North East Dundas tramway route, once used during the area’s mining heyday. Now, it is a scenic trail that takes in Tasmania’s tallest waterfall and the surrounding ancient rainforest of leatherwood, myrtle, sassafras and giant tree ferns.

Ocean Beach

Access From: Ocean Beach Road Distance: 1.8km Ride Time: 15 mins Difficulty: Trail description

An ideal trail for families and beginners, this is a low impact, shared trail used by trail riders, walkers and horse riders. Ocean Beach is Tasmania’s longest beach and stretches more than 30kms between Trial Harbour to the north and Macquarie Heads in the south. Gaze west and contemplate the 20,000kms of open sea in front of you to appreciate the wild and remote nature of the west coast.

Sterling Valley

Access From: 300m west of the Anthony Road junction on Murchison Highway Distance: 12km Ride Time: 1.5-2 hours Difficulty: Trail description

This one-way trail takes its lead from historical trails in the area between Tullah and Rosebery. This is a challenging, but rewarding ride through spectacular myrtle rainforest with occasional views of the face of Mt Murchison. The trail takes a rugged uphill path that can be challenging at times before cresting at Sterling Saddle and then navigating a technical, yet exhilarating, classic descent trail into Rosebery.
