About Quercus Truffles

Travel in VIP style with your private guide to Quercus Truffles, a local truffle farm established in 2013 in the Adelaide Hills.
The owners of Quercus Truffles Matt & Georgie, purchased the Piccadilly Spring Farm approximately 14 years ago to move their family to the country from the suburbs. The 20-acre property came complete with an 1850’s original cottage which was originally the Police Commissioner’s summer house. Since the owner’s tree change, they have completely renovated the main house and garden.
Matt & George were bitten by the truffle bug whilst travelling in Alba, Italy in 2004 and returned to Piccadilly to plan and execute their own trufferie.
They commenced the huge job of improving the soil, preparing irrigation and planting over 650 inoculated trees (a mixture of hazelnut, English Oak and Holmoak) in 2013, and harvesting their first commercial crop 5 years later in 2018.
Their commitment to organic farming principles and intensive maintenance has seen the trufferie flourish, yielding 12 kilograms of first-grade saleable truffles last year.

Truffle Hunting

Spend time with the owners of the truffle farm, the truffle hunters and their specially trained dogs to learn about the Truffling industry which is relatively new to South Australia.
A unique opportunity to go behind the scenes into the somewhat secret society of truffles.
Join the truffle hunt with the expert handlers and dogs from Adelaide Hills Truffle Dogs. You might like to get your hands dirty on the dig to seek out the prized delicacies.

Lunch – private residence

Hosted in the truffle farmer’s private residence, lunch is a seasonal regional style, ideal for a winter’s day and is accompanied by local premium Adelaide Hills wines.
The lunch menu will feature the flavours of the truffle sourced fresh from Quercus Truffles.

Please be advised that finding a Black Truffle on tour is not guaranteed. The hunt and anticipation of potentially unearthing something is half the fun!

Enclosed shoes are necessary (waterproof highly recommended) on this tour and a general level of fitness is required as you will be walking through the truffle farm which is on undulating/uneven ground.
