Wander through an extraordinary collection of historic engines, carriages and wagons. You’re welcome to explore the exhibits and enter a number of the carriages on display. The sleeping cars, with their beautifully preserved cedar panelling and original fixtures and fittings, evoke memories of a past era of train travel. See the restored Cowra roundhouse, historic buildings, gardens, locomotives and more.
Lachlan Valley Railway is a not-for-profit, railway preservation society based in the NSW Central Western town of Cowra.
We are a passionate and dedicated society devoted to the preservation and operation of various examples of New South Wales Government Railway trains, ranging from our operational steam and diesel locomotives, to our fleet of heritage passenger railway carriages, and our diesel ‘Tin Hare’ CPH railmotors.

Running the last weekend of every month, hop on board the beautifully restored Planet 52 and two R cars for a trip from the heritage listed Cowra Railway Station to the Lachlan Bridge and back!
Pop into one of the many rooms at the Cowra Railway Station also open for inspection along with Vintage Cars from the Cowra Antique Vehicle Club.

Lovingly restored to its original glory, the Lounge Car is the latest addition to Cowra’s versatile function spaces and offers a variety of local wines and specialty beers.
A new and exciting experience for locals and visitors alike, the LVR Lounge Car is open for tea and coffee the last Sunday of the month at the Cowra Railway Station and is available for private & coach bookings.
