Solum — Serene Eco Farm Stay Northern NSW

Description

Welcome to Solum, where nature, stillness and luxury meet at a farm stay in Northern NSW.

Nestled at the foothills of native bushland, Solum overlooks 10 ha of regeneratively farmed property taking in sweeping views of forest treetops, and macadamia fields.

Situated just 2 hours south of Gold Coast, and inland from the coastal regions of Iluka and Yamba, you’re just a short drive away from iconic beaches, stunning trails and the world heritage rainforest in Iluka Nature Reserve.

Set over two levels with two bedrooms and two bathrooms Solum comfortably sleeps four adults (no kids aged 0-12).

Surrounded by forests, pasture land and towering eucalyptus trees, Solum is a luxury farm stay perfect for an intimate event, micro wedding or quiet retreat with friends.

The lower living space has a separate queen room, and relaxation zone with TV and reading nook which opens up to a fully equipped kitchen, spacious indoor and outdoor seating areas providing options to gather with friends or cosy corners to retreat by yourself.

From the deck, you’ll find all the ingredients for a soul-replenishing stay; a magnesium plunge pool with an outdoor fire pit, deck shower and far-infrared sauna. You can also add-on a massage or treatment to your stay to complete the in-house spa experience. Contact us for more information.

Upstairs via the handcrafted timber staircase, you’ll find a lush king size bed and private ensuite with rain shower and egg bath. Wake up amongst the treetops here and just soak in the views of the rolling hills and forest surrounds from the cantilevered porthole window.

Thanks to passive design, the atmosphere inside Solum is always just right and the hand-knitted blankets will keep you extra snug on the chilly nights. Stargazers will love the outdoor fire pit and spacious timber deck.

Thoughtful complimentary extras such as locally roasted coffee and selection of teas, bath salts and even a yoga mat to continue your practice, ensure moments, or many, for yourself.

The owners hold strong ethos around conservation, eco living and regenerative farming. The property is powered by solar and fed by rainwater, showcasing simple principles for sustainability and conscious travel.

A stay at Solum is a soul-replenishing farm experience with minimal environmental impact, yet in luxury!

The Local Community: Our Community on the North Coast of NSW is full of warm-hearted locals and a beautiful blend of nature, culture and coastal living. Nearby seaside towns Iluka and Yamba have plenty of charm with world-class surfing, culinary delights, and natural wonders. Our marine parks brim with dolphins, sea turtles and migrating whales whilst our region is enveloped by national parks and wilderness reserves.
The Farmers Note: Solum Farm is 25 acres of Certified Organic permaculture paradise dedicated to regenerative herbalism, growing nutrient dense food and medicines, ecology and community. Our passions are growing herbs and food, planting trees and listening to the land, drawing on over 30 years experience in building soil and regen agriculture. We are artisan distillers, we’re medicinal herb farmers. We're makers.
Things To Do: Solum is designed to be soul-replenishing stay, so relax, unwind and rejuvenate. Relax by the magnesium plunge pool and take in the stunning natural beauty of the farm, listen to the bird calls and rustle of the trees. Make a cuppa and enjoy one of the many quite nooks. At night Stargaze by the outdoor fire pit on the spacious timber deck and take a long soak in the egg bath before rest.
Places To Explore: We encourage our guests not to book too much off-site however it is certainly worth experiencing some of what we have to offer here on the North Coast, NSW. Every Wednesday early morning the Yamba Farmers Markets are on at the Whiting Beach Carpark from 7 - 11am. In addition to picking up some delicious produce you can enjoy the beautiful coastal towns of Yamba and the must visit Angourie Surfing Reserve. Another great way to explore Iluka and Yamba is by boat. Yamba Marina is home to many wonderful fishing and leisure charters suitable for small groups. There’s many amazing dining out options, beaches and shops in the area, you’ll find our recommendations on arrival in the welcome guide or visit Clarence Valley Tourism website.

Strictly no kids or pets. Solum has an unfenced dam within close proximity to the house, making it unsafe for children (0-12) or older if not confident swimmers.

Native animals are frequent at this property and bringing different animals into the mix, especially ones that aren't familiar around wildlife, may be distressing for our furry and feathered native friends. We'd be deeply heartbroken if anything was to happen to someone's child or pet during their stay at Solum farm. We kindly ask guests to respect the owners' decisions.

No weddings, getting ready parties or group functions without written consent from the owners.

No commercial shoots, editorial shoots or elopements without written consent from the owner.

You'll be staying in someone's home, so please treat it with care and respect.

Other things to note:

You’ll need a car to get to and from Solum. Please note once you exit the highway it is an unsealed road for about 3km (5 mins drive) until to reach the farm gate.

All linen is provided for you, including towels for the sauna.

We have provided firewood for your first night’s stay (during months April – Sept only. Fires NOT permitted outside these months, indoor or out). If you intend on keeping the fire going through the day, we suggest you purchase extra firewood.

The property has a sensitive septic system we ask you to please use the products provided and carefully read all instructions when at the house for appropriate disposal of items into the grey water system.

Must climb stairs to access property.

We have a security camera above the front exterior door that films the carpark and driveway.

“The owners live part-time at the cottage below on the property, there is seclusion and privacy for our guests and our home on the property. If you feel like a wander, you are most welcome to wander down the road though we do ask you stay on the pathway and be aware of snakes (summer season).”

Pet(s) live on the farm property.
Solum farm is a working medicinal herb farm. This means we’re not always here (it's a seasonal thing) however our pet friends are. You will occasionally see cows in the bottom paddock. They’re pretty friendly though we recommend a picture not a pat (they have big horns). The star of SOLUM is our Pig. She is a 10 year old duroc cross Sow and our beloved pet. Please DO NOT feed her (she is on a special diet) and look at her from afar. Pigs are beautiful animals though can get grumpy quickly and will bite!

Before you leave:
Gather used towels, throw rubbish away, turn things off, return keys, lock up, ensure all louvres and windows are closed.

Katie

Hi, I’m Katie. After purchasing the land in 2016, my husband Matty and I, spent the best part of 5 years camping under the stars, feasting on locally caught seafood, surfing the coastline, watching whales migrate with the changing seasons and falling more in awe of the landscape at our doorstep. Work has currently taken us to sunny Queensland so we are thrilled to offer our space to other travelers. We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful part of the world and hope to make your getaway as enjoyable as possible!
