Macintosh Island Park

Macintosh Island Park is a real oasis in the midst of all the glitz and glamour of Main Beach. Surrounded by big shady trees, you’ll find a number of playgrounds, cascading streams running through the park, and a bird sanctuary, home to beautiful peacocks roaming through the parklands.

The larger of the two children’s playground’s is covered in a giant shade sail. It has a number of slides and various climbing structures, as well as the ever-popular swings. A little bridge over a bubbling brook leads those who are adventurous enough to a cave where the infamous Big Foot can be spotted. A smaller playground at the southern end of the parklands is home to a few slides and pieces of equipment more suited to toddlers.

Sitting alongside a canal of the Nerang River, there are some small sandy beaches where you can paddle in the water or launch a kayak. The park is also home to the Les Rogers Memorial Sanctuary, where you will find a number of birds making their home, including the majestic peacocks.

The park has some great modern facilities, with toilets, barbecues and picnic shelters, as well as plenty of park benches, drinking fountains and pathways.

Accessible by car on the Gold Coast Highway side of the park, or by foot over the footbridge from Main Beach, this shady oasis is the perfect place to visit alongside a trip to the beach.

Parking is available on both the Gold Coast Highway and Main Beach Parade sides of the park.

Note: Dogs must be walked on a leash unless otherwise stated and are totally prohibited in all children's playground areas.
