Tallowood Farm offers the Cow Shed which is situated 130 meters from the main house on the 47 acre Kalang valley farm near Bellingen. You’ll enjoy absolute privacy and serenity, and access to your own private swimming hole in the Kalang River. Swim in the sparkling, fresh water (also perfect for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and fishing). Go for walks in the pristine rainforest and hear nothing but silence and birdsong. Have a hit of tennis on our rustic clay bush tennis court. Paint a landscape scene of the view from the top paddock ‘en plein air’. Gaze out across the rolling green paddocks and our organic veggie garden or hang out with the cows - meet Bruce, Freckles and the rest of the gang!… and Eagle the horse. Feed the chickens and collect their fresh organic eggs.Welcome to the Cow Shed! Nestled in the magic Kalang valley, the Cow Shed is one of a kind! Step back in time to the rustic charm of a lovingly restored milking bails from the early 1900’s (complete with essential modern day comforts!) Wake in the mornings to the sound of birds in this perfect artist’s retreat or country escape. The Cow Shed is situated 130 meters from the main house on the 47 acre Tallowood Farm. You’ll enjoy absolute privacy and serenity, and access to your own private swimming hole in the Kalang River. Play the piano, or choose from our selection of vinyl records to accompany your candlelit dinners. Have a BBQ on the deck and sit by the outside fire pit at night, watch the stars ‘pop’ at dusk and count the constellations. Soak in a relaxing (or romantic) hot bath under the stars in the outdoor bath tub. Get lost in a book from the bookshelf, enjoy a board game or cards… there’s no shortage of things to do at Tallowood Farm. In the upstairs loft is a queen-sized bed (accessed via an internal staircase), and downstairs is a comfy couch/double sofa bed if you prefer not to climb the stairs, or simply space for your children or extra guests. All bed linen and towels are provided. The fully equipped kitchen has a fridge, gas stove and oven, microwave, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine, selection of herbal teas, cooking oil, seasonings and local organic honey. The adjoining bathroom and laundry features a shower, composting Green Loo (minimal impact housing) and a washing machine. Bath tub is outside under the stars! Starlink provides Wi-Fi for excellent internet and mobile phone reception. There is always a plentiful supply of firewood provided for your indoor fire or outside fire pit. Beautiful Bellingen is only 20 minutes drive away, where you’ll find excellent restaurants, cafés, boutiques, great markets, art galleries, unique health food shop and local growers markets. Stroll through the streets and enjoy the friendly Bello vibe! The Cow Shed is a place of inspiration if you’re looking to spend time painting, writing, reading, playing music, meditating, practising yoga, walking in the forest, swimming in the river or simply being amongst the beauty of nature and the birds. There’s a river crossing to access the property, which can be navigated most of the time by any kind of car, however in the event of extensive rainfall or extreme weather, we might need to cancel if we consider it unsuitable to cross. Tallowood Farm is a slow-paced working farm, so come and have a restful, restorative stay, enjoy the peace and quiet, and the fresh, clean air of the Kalang valley and leave feeling recharged and inspired!

The Cow Shed

Amazing

Another great stay at the cow shed. Greg and Gabrielle are the best hosts. They are so welcoming we felt like family when we visit. We arrive to the fireplace lit and everything you could ask for. The cottage is very private and the outdoor bath under the stars is a highlight. This was out second visit and we be back again! Thank you guys again for an amazing stay.

The Cow Shed

Somewhere to truly be in the moment

My partner and I felt a wonderful sense of place, of calmness and peace. Our hearts melted into the cabin and surrounding land that left us with a sense of renewed energy and purpose. We could not recommend the Cow Shed more and feel privileged to have been able to spend time there. True beauty echoed by the absolutely lovely hosts Gabrielle and Greg. Thank you.

One of our all time favourite HipCamp stays. Gabrielle and Greg have been the most amazing hosts. Their hospitality and eye for detail is second to none. There is not a detail they have not thought of and added to make the experience incredible. A must stay!

The Cow Shed

My family and I loved it here. Gabrielle and Greg were absolutely lovely and we felt so welcomed. Our kids loved hanging out at the river and feeding the chickens and 'eagle', as well as meeting 'the boys (charismatic bulls). It is a beautiful place full of the personality and charm of the hosts who have filled the farm with a lifetime of stories and style .

The Cow Shed

What a gem! Both the cowshed as well as Gabrielle and Greg! This beautiful spot lays well tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and is an oasis of tranquility. The cowshed has everything you need and in combination with the exceptional hospitality of the hosts you don’t want to go home anymore. Playing the records, swimming in the river and star gazing next to the bonfire were definitely the highlights of our stay. We will be back soon!

The Cow Shed

The Cow Shed really exceeded our expectations, the property is peaceful, beautiful and the accommodation had everything we needed and more. We loved soaking in the tub under the stars and feeding the chickens and the horse each morning was the highlight of the trip for our 6 year old daughter. Gabrielle and Greg were so hospitable and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Couldn't recommend it more.
