Barra on Bastin is situated on a quiet no-through road with Howard Springs and Coolalinga shopping centres only 5 minutes drive away and Darwin city only 30 minutes. The property has ample level space and shaded sites for a tent or caravan parking. There are plenty of fruit trees and seasonal tropical plants including pawpaw, pineapple, passionfruit and various citrus, plus you can enjoy free-range eggs from our four lovely hens! Power and water are available from the new ablution block with toilet, shower and a washing machine along with a basic camp kitchen, gas BBQ, fire pits and BBQ plate for campfire cooking. We also have a large Barramundi pond and we feed our three Barra most days, which is fun for the whole family. There is a beautiful swimming pool by the main residence which can be used during daylight hours. Please note, the camping areas are just one minute from our house, but still quite private. A short 5-minute drive from shopping centres in Coolalinga and 10 minutes from the Gateway shopping centre in Palmerston. Centrally located it serves as a great base to explore nearby Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks.Relax on Bastin is situated on a quiet no-through road with Howard Springs and Coolalinga shopping centres only 5 minutes drive away and Darwin city only 30 minutes. Relax on Bastin, Tent and RV Stop
Great place to explore Darwin
This was a really great place to stay. A pool, shower and toilet plus chickens and Barra feeding just added to the great community vibe. Tim the host is great and friendly and made us feel at home. The kids loved the little playground and the safe space to play. Highly recommend.

Relax on Bastin, Tent and RV Stop
Great vibe and Tim was very generous, providing some home grown produce for campers to share. Bathroom was great - showers are cold and only one person can use the combined shower & toilet at a time. But we didn’t have to wait.

Pool, Barra & Space
This was our favorite stay. The quiet, laid back spot to relax and unwind; where the kids could ride bikes, play with other kids, have chooks wandering round, feed Barra’s with Tim our host, swim in the pool and have fresh eggs, tropical fruits to eat and plenty of shade, space & power hook up & water/ washing machine ticked the boxes for everyone. Tim was a fantastic host, loves his fishing, having a chat, and even cooked us all up freshly caught chilli crab. We didn’t want to leave, what a little slice of paradise in Howard Springs .

Highly recommended
Barra on Bastin was perfect for our Darwin stay. Small amount of sites and we formed a little community! It was lovely. Great to also have use of the pool and hear the curlew at night. Loved it, thanks Tim, you are a very gracious host

Top relaxing place to stay.
Barra on Bastin was a super peaceful place to camp, the owner Tim was just great, going out of his way to make you feel welcome, offering us fresh eggs, lemons and we even fed his Barramundi. Booking in and communicating with Tim was a smooth easy process. There are five spacious shaded van sites on his lovely property. If you want to unwind and have a relaxing quiet stay somewhere I would highly recommend you do yourself a favour and stay at this lovely hipcamp. Our dogs loved it too !

Like barking dogs & a cold shower?
Overall we felt very safe, Tim was a friendly host, there was adequate room for 5 vans within fairly close proximity to each other with power and water provided and a washing machine within 30 minutes of the cbd. A reasonable drive but ok. There is a good shopping centre just minutes down the road, fast food options and several fuel options nearby. To give an honest review from our perspective, two main downsides given the fee charged, which is on the high end for this type of property, were the group of really loud barking dogs nearby that start up early every single morning without fail and go on and on and on plus the only shower option being cold water. . The photo of the bathroom on the web would have been taken when new so don’t expect exactly what you see there, but it is quite fine for toilet and basin and more inviting once given a clean. The shower cubicle has aged but quite fine if cold water invigorates you. There is a pool available if desired. It is right near the family home though so we didn’t feel like intruding even though we were made more than welcome to do so. You can help feed a Barra or three and may get to taste a home grown banana or pawpaw if lucky. Check out is 10 am. 12 pm is better in our experience but could leave van for later pickup. Price is on the high side for this kind of property. There are other choices of great, relaxing, economical properties nearby with hot shower that we experienced once moving. Do your research. 😃
