Miles & Henry is an independent bookstore, cafè and inspiration haven for readers, writers, authors, book-lovers, book-worms and creatives of all ages. Nestled in the historic, hinterland village of Alstonville, in the heart of the New South Wales Northern Rivers Region, we offer a select collection of new and gently pre-loved books, literary inspired gifts and a welcoming, vintage-inspired space. We’re a destination where you can connect, gather and meet, enjoy fresh food, delicious beverages and the company of like-minded friends, old and new. So, settle in. Turn some pages. Take a breath. Our books
Browse our shelves and discover new, and gently pre-loved, fiction and non-fiction titles. We stock all genres, including classics, biography, autobiography, memoirs, crime & thrillers, travel, award-winners, romance and Indigenous titles. Our early childhood books are all new. And if you’re looking for something particular, just ask! We love helping our customers find their perfect literary match.
Our cafè
Simple. Fresh. Delicious. Locally sourced. That’s the philosophy behind our cafè menu. Our professional baristas work with only premium quality, local Moonshine Coffee, local teas and chai. Our cakes, pastries, biscuits, scones, croissants, soups, sandwiches and specials are baked locally, or produced in-house. We prepare, plate and pour everything we serve with love and care.
Our gifts
Nestled in amongst our vintage-inspired dècor, you’ll find a unique range of quirky, literary inspired gifts ranging from bookishly good socks, cards, jewellery and mugs to hand-made library and tote bags. Our gift vouchers are perfect for that hard-to-buy-for book-lover, family member or fussy friend!
Our space
You can take a seat in one of our unique chairs, on our comfy couch or at one of vintage or hand-made tables and take some time to read and relax. Or, you might like to join us for events such as book launches, author talks or our “My Brilliant Reads” Book Club. You’re always welcome to stay for a while.
