Dundullimal Homestead

Visit an idyllic rural homestead with tranquil parklands and a pioneering past.

Located in Wiradjuri Country, Dubbo, Dundullimal Homestead was originally a 10,000 hectare working property and is now a beautifully-restored connection to the rural past.

Step inside the 1840s homestead to experience wide halls, fine cedar joinery, and cobblestone verandah. Out in the park-like grounds, explore sandstone stables, a timber church, and blacksmith’s forge for a real sense of working life on a sheep and cattle station.

Dogs on leash are welcome in the gardens. Stop into the Shed Café for Devonshire Tea. Bring your bike to make the most of the nearby Tracker Riley Cycleway and experience the natural beauty of the Macquarie River.

What we offer:

History

Dundullimal Homestead is located on the land of ‘the Dundullimal’ who were part of the Wiradjuri nation whose knowledge and experience of the area spans thousands of years.

The land became the head station of a large squatting run in 1836, and the house was built in the early 1840s, soon becoming a key property when droving cattle and sheep to different stations, meat works and markets across the nation.

The Homestead has survived in a near unaltered condition since its construction and is now the only tangible evidence of the early squatters run. The timber church, which can still be seen today, was built in the 1870s and has connections to Saint Mary MacKillop.
