Byron Bay – Freediving
Wild Byron operates our dive day on their boat “Apollo 2” it is a comfortable 12-seater, with padded seating and powerful engines for speed and safety. The entire boat trip is 2-2.5 hours and gives us a great amount of time to explore the massive amount of diversity at Julian Rocks ‘Nguthungulli’ after we have completed the line dives. Julian Rocks are home to seasonal species such as humpback whales, bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins, a number of ray species including the spotted eagle ray, green turtles, loggerhead turtles, hawksbill turtles, octopus, eels, guitar sharks, reef sharks, wobbegong sharks, leopard sharks, and grey nurse sharks. Just go name a few! Of course, Julian Rocks is a thriving place for hundreds of fish species too, and if you’re lucky, you’ll see some giant cod!
