BEGINNERS WORKSHOP
Introduction to Backyard Beekeeping
This one-day beekeeping course in Newcastle will get you started on your journey to becoming a beekeeper. Learn about bees and bee behaviour. Find out what type of hive suits you. Perfect if you already have a flow hive, or if you are still looking which hive is best for you. Learn the basic skills needed to care for your colony. Includes all tools you will need for the day. Look inside a working beehive. Experience honey extraction and taste honey from different hives.
Time: 9.30am -3.30pm
Cost: $165 Light Lunch and Morning Tea Provided.

BEE SCHOOL
Have you been keeping bees for a little while and now have some questions about more advanced hive management.
This half day course will cover various skills including swarm management and what to do if your hive is queen less and requeening. The course will have both theoretical and practical components. Participants are encouraged to email questions prior to the course to ensure we cover your needs.
The course fee includes morning tea and the equipment you will need for the day.
Bookings and covered shoes essential.
Time: 9.30am -12.30pm

TWO HOUR HIVE TOUR
Look inside a beehive.
Ever wanted to look inside a beehive and see a honey bee colony in action? Book a spot in a hive tour, suit up to look under the hood of a hive with Apiarist Kelly for a unique insider experience. Join us for a two-hour beehive tour. The tour includes a talk all about the amazing world of honeybees followed by gearing up to get hands on with working hives in our Mayfield Teaching Apiary.
Ages 10 and up or we have family friendly course for 5 years and up (must be accompanied by and adult).
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Cost: $85 (protective beesuits and gloves provided)
